Abstract: The article is dedicated to the memory of Elena Nikolaevna Uspenskaya (1957–2015), a researcher from the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an outstanding ethnographer and social anthropologist, and a preeminent scholar of the peoples of South Asia. The authors focus on the specialist’s biography and multifaceted personality, her academic and museological heritage, and her contribution into indology.
