Sophie Roche Abstract: The book “Achieving a Career, Becoming a Master” by Jesko Schmoller deals with middle class Uzbek men and their aspirations and actions to achieve a career. It uncovers the economic difficulties that young people in Uzbekistan have experienced since independence in 1991. The book is the result of long-term ethnographic research and analysis.
